Barry and his wife France met at Ball State University in Indiana. After graduation, they moved to L.A. where they became followers of Jesus in 1976. While in Los Angeles, they attended the first Vineyard Church in the San Fernando Valley area.

After two years of ministry training and small group leadership in L.A., Barry felt God's call to come and plant a church in his home area of Northern Kentucky. In 1978, the Long's moved to Northern Kentucky and Barry attended seminary. He also started three small bible study groups in Northern Kentucky that eventually became the Vineyard Christian Church in 1988. Barry has also been actively involved as a member of the National Vineyard leader's team and he has lead several short term missions. The Long's have three children: Joseph, Jessica and Marjory. They also have five grandchildren.

We think his favorite day would have to include Jesus, a good book, his grandkids, a ball game, and a can of olives...
